Staff Spotlight: Jose Sanchez
August 8, 2023 11:30 amOur next staff spotlight episode welcomes Hospitality Service Manager and football fanatic, Jose Sanchez. Born in the Canary Islands in Spain, Jose came to England in 2003 and first worked at the Chatsworth House in Worthing where he honed his hospitality skills, from hall porter rising to assistant manager of the hotel over 11 years. Broadening his horizons, he became Deputy Food & Beverage at Cisswood House Hotel, Horsham, where he furthered his skills and knowledge of running a restaurant and managing teams.
Jose is a self-proclaimed football fanatic, and why wouldn’t you be growing up during a period of the Spanish national teams’ largest successes and the quality of the domestic competitions? Jose told us that he is a big fan of Spanish giants Real Madrid but also follows UD Las Palmas, a smaller club based on the island of Gran Canaria. As well as enjoying watching football, Jose loves to play. He currently plays for a team based in the local area of Crawley and was recently voted ‘Player of the Year’ by his teammates and awarded a trophy. Well done, Jose!
In fact, Jose once emailed Brighton & Hove Albion football club to offer his services as a player, some time before their recent successes. He was hoping to hear back and that they had offered him a place on the team. He still has not heard back from them, so if they are reading, he might still be interested!
Jose reminisced that Nigel Dean, Head of Operations at Roffey Park and huge Brighton & Hove Albion fan, talked about football with him during his interview stage, to which Jose’s ears lit up. This sparked a great relationship between the two who work closely day in and day out to achieve the smooth-flowing operations and successful running of Roffey Park.
Jose joined the Roffey Park team in May 2019. He told us that he thoroughly enjoys the challenges of providing the best possible service. Jose has worked hard to build his professional skills and experience. A real team player who highly appreciates and respects his colleagues, he truly brings this esprit de corps from the football pitch to the workplace.
“We are a team; we bring out the best of ourselves and give it to the work we do as a team.” We at Roffey Park are extremely grateful for all that Jose does – he is an invaluable part of our team.
